Shares well with others. Remember that from your school days? The concept may well be elementary, but the practice requires good behavior. If you're designing your emails to include social share icons and links, consider the following.

Your company's social network may include FB, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ profiles and your marketing goal no doubt includes pushing out the good word in all your communications. Of course, this effort includes your email campaigns.

So, when your subscribers get your email, they Like your FB page, follow your Tweets or review your LinkedIn network profile. You share with them and let them play with your toys.

Let's cross the street and meet your subscribers. Add to the social equation your subscribers FB, Twitter, LinkedIn friends, family and business associates.

Let us suppose that:
Your FB + Your Twitter + Your LinkedIn = 10,000 immediate potential prospects and subscribers

Lean and mean has its downside. How many hats can one person wear, anyway? Would you have the same person who stocks privy supplies managing your IT department? Say it ain't so!

Here's a small test. On the surface, the questions are easy enough…

1. Where is your website hosted?
2. How many domain names have your purchased and in whose name are they registered?
3. Where are these domain names registered?
4. When do these domain names come up for renewal?

I liken Facebook to a great house party: you invite friends and associates, play games, watch videos, share photos, listen to music and chat into the early hours of the morning.

But when it comes to Twitter, the art of tweeting may prove a challenge. If there is a party, it can be anywhere. For every tweet, there's a retweet or reply. And for all the hashmarks and unique usernames, there's but a few words and a tiny URL.

You won’t get rich quick through a few email campaigns, so don’t scheme… plan your relationship over time. The conversation should be as natural as a chat between close friends. Honest, short, with purpose.
